Cowboys and Cowgirls of Texas

Some recent photographs I took in the Stockyards of Old Fort Worth. I was born here. It's otherwise known to locals as Northside or Cowtown and this is where they say "the west begins". It's very much a tourist destination where you will see a lot of tourists but also locals and real Texas cowboys. There are a lot of bars, restaurants (oh yes, real Texas barbeque!), genuine western stores, historic hotels and a full size train ride you can take. It's fun for both adults and kids and is the one must see destination when you visit Texas!

This little girl riding the horse was my favorite photo of the day. The horse wasn't turned on but she was riding like the wind.

Gwen Stefani

Gwen Stefani is so stylish and cool and I've loved her music every since I heard my first No Doubt song. Sometimes I'll paint 2 or 3 paintings of a subject in different styles. I've painted 3 portraits of Gwen Stefani over the last few years.

Cool Modern Art

I had an awesome visit at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. I'm always inspired and excited to see the famous paintings of artists like Andy Warhol, Francis Bacon, Roy Lichtenstein, Mark Rothko and Jackson Pollock But then it's great when I discover other artists like Alain Jacquet. This was my first time to see his beautiful painting "Camouflage Botticelli (Birth Of Venus)". I absolutely loved his creativity with the subject and his brilliant execution of the painting. The colors were very striking and it is a very intriguing and innovative Pop Art statement painting on Pop Culture.

There is peace in simplicity.
This huge work of three canvas pieces took up one entire side of the room.

Lovely view of the reflecting pond from the museum.

An Artist's Visit To A Museum

I go to a museum at least once a month. It's my other "church". On this trip I visited both the Kimbell Art Museum and the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth.
I love all art: ancient, modern, paintings, sculpture... But as a painter, paintings are my favorite. I get butterflies in my heart when I see some paintings....
I study the paintings. I watch the people. I listen to what they have to say. I dissect the paintings. I am always mesmerized. Handling paintings every day it's hard not to touch the paintings in a museum. It's difficult to simply view them as beautiful pictures and not analyze them for technique. But I am always left with a feeling of comradery with the other artists, always inspired and challenged. And every time I go I always feel that I am a little bit closer to becoming one of them.

My paintings are for sale here
